Tis the season to block out your family set goals for 2019! Whether you’re new to podcasts or a veteran who’s listened to Serial on repeat (honestly, I haven’t listened to it and I don’t know if I will? Who knows), there’s a good chance you need some new episodes to listen to. So behold, my favorite podcasts of 2018, which hopefully will motivate you straight into 2019!
If you haven’t read Rachel’s book, “Girl, Wash Your Face” do yourself a favor and order it on Amazon right now. Then, go subscribe to her and her husband’s podcast Rise Together. It’s a take on Rachel’s podcast, Rise, but they share advice and discuss topics relating to relationships and how to make them the best they can be. Also, I find Dave hilarious so hearing his perspective is great. I thought the “Four Things Men are Terrified to Talk About” episode was so good and every time Dave talked about something sexual I could just imagine him blushing!
If you do anything online, like run a blog, run your brand through Instagram, sell things on Etsy/wherever. Or maybe you just need motivation to spur that business woman spirit within you, you should definitely check this podcast out. I don’t consider myself a creative, nor do I sell things online. But I do have an online presence and I always love to find ways to expand that and reach as many people as I can. A few weeks ago, the episode “You’ve Been Dying to Know THIS About Instagram” opened my eyes A LOT. I’ll admit, I’m a passive instagram user. I scroll and double tap to like people’s post but I don’t engage by commenting, re-posting, etc. And you can’t get back what you don’t put out! So in order for my content to get that engagement, I need to start engaging with others I love to follow.
I can’t remember exactly which blogger turned me on to The Lively Show, but I’ve been listening on and off for a few years now. Sometimes I feel like I’m not smart enough to understand some things she talks about, but I’m a HUGE fan of the Law of Attraction (LoA) and anytime she talks about how it’s shown up in her life I’m constantly amazed. In the past two months, she’s moved back to the States from Australia (I think she was there for 2-3 years?) and hearing her journey in these two episodes has been so interesting – Surrender and flow & Detroit Update. She’s actually doing a live show in my hometown of Pittsburgh in January, but both my schedule and finances don’t agree with me making the trip. I’m so bummed out I can’t make it! I’m excited to see what she’ll have going on in Detroit (her current city), my Aunts just moved to Detroit this summer so maybe I can do a 2-for-1 trip sometime soon and meet Jess in person….
This is a newer podcast for me, and I’ve only listened to 2 episodes so far but oh man are they good! The first episode I highly recommend listening to is Social Anxiety. I’ve been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder, so I relate to this so much. Even if you aren’t diagnosed with SAD by a professional and you just have those butterflies in your tummy sometimes when you go to do something, it’s definitely worth a listen. The second episode I’ve loved is on Constraint. We probably all try and use constraint somewhere in our lives, mostly with diet/nutrition and her take on it is very interesting. I like that each episode is one topic, and the episodes aren’t too long so you can definitely listen to a few while you get ready in the morning!
Do you have a favorite podcast or one I should check out? Let me know! Also, let me know if I really should listen to Serial – is it worth all the hype??
