    Thoughts on Quarantine: Month One

We’re beginning month 2 of the quarantine because of COVID-19. All non-essential businesses have closed. I’ve been furloughed from my part-time job, still working my full-time job. I’ve experienced every single emotion known to man during the past month, many coming in all over the course of 24 hours. A roller coaster of emotions and feels. I’m home alone, my boyfriend Bryan is at his home (his parents home), although we do see each other on occasion. I think my 4 cats and 1 dog are completely over me being home at this point, and probably think I’ve been laid off for good. We still don’t know when things will…

    Adult Braces Journey Vol. 2

And they’re on! My adult braces actually were put on March 16th, but to be fair life has been turned upside down for basically everyone since then. Once I got to the office, they had me sign all the paperwork and gave me an overview of the payments and payment schedule. I’ll be paying $140 a month over the next 23 months (since I made my first payment that day). This amount is rounded up and I’ll make any extra payments so I can get them paid off sooner, but it’s interest free so there’s no crazy rush. After that was situated, they brought me back and the dental hygienist…

    Adult Braces Journey Vol. 1

Now that I’m rebooting the blog, I figured I’d share with you some updates in my personal life. Next month, I’m getting braces put on. Yes, metal, full mouth braces as an adult. I’m equally terrified and excited. Back in I think 5th grade I had the top 6 teeth with metal braces on, so I remember how they feel and operate but I never experienced an entire mouth. There’s a few reasons I’m getting braces now, at near 30 years old. Firstly, I sucked my thumb until I was about 6 years old (embarrassing, I know) which has left me with a pretty large overbite. Secondly, I’m starting to…

    How To: Land an Internship

I tend to have friends several years older than me and several years younger than me. Most likely because I always wanted to fit in with my older sister, but still wanted to be a kid and play with the younger kids. This has transformed as an adult into seeking the advice of those wiser than me, and wanting to help the next generation not make the same mistakes I did. So in my effort to reboot my blog (again), I’m going to do a little How To series where I share actual, IRL advice that can help you in different areas of your life. A little backstory on this…

    5 Ways I’m Saving Money in 2019

It can be extremely hard to cut back to almost zero when you’re trying to save money and pay off debt like I am currently. You just want to go and buy all of the things, with all of the money you don’t have. And that’s a problem. As I’ve looked at my budget, my spending patterns and my lifestyle, I’ve come up with 5 easy ways I’m saving some money this year. You’ll probably read these and go ‘duh’, but they may spark some ideas for you! Library Books – Did y’all know there is this place, it’s like Amazon, but you can get as many books to read…

    Life Update

Broken record, coming at you. Thank you all so much for your support and kind words on Monday’s blog post. For anyone out there in a similar boat, just know I’m in your corner and I’m here for you! So aside from the financial life update that was Monday’s post, I figured it’s been a while so I should fill you in on some things happening in and around my life as of late. Rocket Raccoon isn’t that cute Two weeks ago, I heard some scratching on the one corner of my roof. We have stray cats, so I thought it may have been one sharpening it’s claws. Cut to…

    Starting My #DebtFree Journey

I won’t lie to you. This is the most humbling, terrifying, exposing thing I will ever put on the Internet. Ever. There’s a large part of me that says “don’t do it. You’ll mess up future employment, friends will judge you, family will be angry at you.” So I’ve been staring at this editor for a few hours, just thinking. Chances are, I won’t even think of a catchy SEO title for this post until I’m just about to send it. Some information before I share what you really came here to see. I’m 28 years old, I will be 29 in June. I have a Bachelor of Science degree…

Crossing off my 30 before 30 List

You’ve probably seen the 30 before 30 list twenty-something bloggers make. These bucket list items that we think ‘By 30, I want to accomplish X’. Goal setting is extremely important, and it’s one thing I’m trying to get better at. Not just saying ‘I want to make lots of money’, but actually putting a plan around it. But that’s another post for another time. What I want to share with you is this, my 30 before 30 list (which isn’t actually 30 items because I guess I wasn’t creative enough). I found this the other day while cleaning out my desk at work. I had too many files and papers…

Christmas Gifts for the Girl Who Has Everything

Ah yes, that time of year where everyone is getting in the festive spirit – and also freaking out about what to get their girlfriend/best friend/sister/mother/cousin/sister-in-law/coworker. You probably know this girl, the one who isn’t afraid to treat herself every so often. The one who enjoys shopping and has lots of stuff. The girl who has everything. I am that girl, sadly. I know I’m difficult for my friends and family to shop for, because if I want something, I’ll buy it for myself. So when it comes time for Christmas gifts, they’re stuck as to what to get me! Here’s a few items I’ve put together you can splurge (or save!)…
